SINFONIA VERDE
Palazzo Lantieri, a garden between history and future

Art, wellbeing and memory in the heart of Gorizia

Located in the heart of Gorizia, the garden of Palazzo Lantieri is a unique microcosm where art and wellbeing, science and magic mix in a timeless story. Hidden for centuries, it is now open to the public thanks to the project “Sinfonia Verde. Palazzo Lantieri, A Garden Between History and the Future”, created by Netural Coop together with Countess Carolina di Levetzow Lantieri.

Once a favourite retreat of Empress Sissi and visited by figures such as Goethe, Schiller, Carlo Goldoni, and even Richard the Lionheart, the garden is now a heritage site open to all — a sanctuary of peace and beauty that tells centuries of history.

How to Visit the Garden

The Seven hidden stories of the garden

The Seven hidden stories of the garden

1 /
The Tower and Its Illustrious Guests

Discover the ancient “Schönhaus” and its thousand-year history, narrated by Countess Carolina. You will hear stories of the Lantieri family and the remarkable figures who crossed this threshold, from Richard the Lionheart to Carlo Goldoni.

2 /
Alchemical Frescoes

Enter the mysterious world of the palace frescoes. Encoded messages passed down by the alchemists once protected and hosted by the Lantieri family invite visitors to seek their own “key of interpretation” for inner growth.

3 /
The Persian Garden

A place of peace inspired by the Persian “Paradaiza”, designed to delight the five senses with an architecture rich in symbolism. Lose yourself among enchanting rose gardens, gravel paths, ancient stones and groves, just as Empress Sissi once loved to do. The journey concludes in contemplation at the quiet Lourdes Grotto, commissioned by the last Queen of France, the Countess of Chambord Maria Theresa of Austria-Este.

4 /
The artwork Slancio Vitale

This sculpture by Giampietro Carlesso is not only a work of art but also a symbol of resilience, showing how beauty can be reborn even from difficulty and endings. It is a tribute to the life of the ancient Cedar of Lebanon that once towered in the garden and now continues to live in another form, in a new dimension.

5 /
The Value of Well-being and Silence

As you reach the wellbeing grove, listen carefully. Not only to the birdsong or the rustling of leaves, but also to the sound of your own breath. Feel the scent of the earth and the gentle movement of the air. In these moments of stillness we can find a deep peace — a regeneration that both body and mind seek.

6 /
Microorganisms and Boxwood

Listen to the story of how the garden is cared for without the use of chemical substances. A fascinating account of the power of microorganisms that helped save the boxwood plants, demonstrating the harmony between science and nature.

7 /
The Little Window and the Omega Garden

Discover the story of the small window in the wall and pause to contemplate the obelisk that gathers and regenerates the positive energies of the garden, creating an infinite cycle of life. A path that brings together personal history, contemporary art and the energy of nature.
