What we see in the mirror cannot be falsified

Dialogues between contemporary art and historic spaces

Works by contemporary artists enter into dialogue with the ancient atmosphere that permeates the grand halls of Palazzo Lantieri. These “presences” — expressions of our time — find their ideal setting among the palace’s architecture, frescoes, furnishings, paintings and family portraits from the various eras that have inspired them.

The large site-specific installations by Jannis Kounellis and Michelangelo Pistoletto, together with works by Getulio Alviani, Giulio Paolini, Donatella Spaziani, Eliseo Mattiacci and Gianpietro Carlesso, form an integral part of the palace’s prestigious artistic heritage.

Thanks to the remarkable collaboration between the Associazione per l’Arte Contemporanea Zerynthia, Carolina Lantieri and Niccolò Piccolomini, visionary projects such as Terre di Confine, Accumulazioni, Editing, and others have been developed since 2004.

In addition to the aforementioned artists, participants in these initiatives have included Jan Fabre, Domenico Bianchi, Alvin Curran, Bruna Esposito, Günther Förg, Rainer Ganahl, Tamuna Sirbiladze, Zlatan Vukosavljevic, Franz West and Heimo Zobernig.
